-------
Young Peoples Symphony Orchestra (YPSO) continues its 82nd season with the Winter Concert that will feature music director/conductor David Ramadanoff, and 83 young musicians in a program of Debussy's Gigues, Lalo's Cello Concerto, Aerie Bashore Walker, soloist, and Holst's The Planets, WomenSing, guest chorus.

Cellist Aerie Bashore Walker is a sophomore in Instrumental Music at Oakland School for the Arts High School. She began taking violin lessons at the age of 5 with Goran Berg at the Crowden School in Berkeley. She added cello at age 7, pursuing both all through middle school. Currently studying with Monica Scott, cello has become her main focus. She has played in various youth orchestras including the Holy Names Chamber Orchestra and the Sycamore Strings Chamber Orchestra, and is very active in her school ensembles. Aerie likes to explore other genres of music apart from classical, and has performed at many folk/roots music festivals throughout the U.S.

Celebrating his 30th season as Music Director/Conductor in 2018-19, David Ramadanoff conducts 85 YPSO young musicians who range in age from 12 to 18, and hail from 31 Bay Area cities in seven counties.

Founded in Berkeley in 1936, YPSO is the oldest youth orchestra in California and the second oldest in the nation.
The 2018-19 season is the 82nd season since violinist and conductor Jessica Marcelli founded YSPO at the suggestion of Clarabelle Bell, an amateur harpist and Berkeley resident, who got the idea after hearing a youth orchestra on a trip to Portland, Oregon.
