Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the final Winter Dance Party performance of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper - names that remind us of rock n' rolls' legacy. The Day the Music Lived: Retrospective is a tribute celebrating the Winter Dance Party 1959's final performance featuring a historical review and live musical performance.
The Day the Music Lived: Retrospective included two, forty-five minute sets recapturing the energy of the original performance February 2, 1959 at the Surf Ballroom, in Clear Lake, Iowa. The first set chronicles the origins of the Winter Dance Party Tour and celebrates the music of Frankie Sardo, Dion and the Belmonts, J.P. Richardson, and Ritchie Valens. After the Intermission, Buddy Holly takes center stage and the story of the tragedy and legacy unfold.
Theatre performances include HDMI projected backgrounds including pictures and chronology of one of rock n' rolls' most famous stories.
