Circle of Book Clubs book talk with Heidi Osselaer!
The Pima Library Foundation s Circle of Book Clubs continues its 2018-2019 season with author, independent historian and professor, Heidi Osselaer.
Heidi Osselaer teaches history at Arizona State University. Her 2018 publication, Arizonas Deadliest Gunfight: Draft Resistance and Tragedy at the Power Cabin, 1918, explores the 100-year old case of the shootout that has captured the curiosity of filmmakers and authors for decades.
Historian Carlos Schwantes writes, I know of no other book quite like this one. In Heidi Osselaers capable hands, a seemingly minor confrontation in a remote canyon in the mountains of eastern Arizona becomes a mirror reflecting many larger issues that gripped early-twentieth-century America. This is nonfiction at its finest.
Her 2009 publication, Winning Their Place: Arizona Women in Politics, 1883-1950, which won two awards from the Arizona Book Publishing Association and was a finalist for the Best Book award. She was honored in 2011 for her contributions to Arizona history with the Sharlot Hall Award for her valuable contributions to the understanding and awareness of Arizona and its history.
