Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door. Our onsite box office opens 30 minutes before the performance.
Runtime: 90 minutes, no intermission
Broken Box Mime Theater (BKBX) activates their unique reinvention of throwback French pantomime to present a 90-minute collection of all-new stories that riff on the many layers of Skin: color, consent, border, point of contact, identity, a molting snake. There will be a Brooklyn beard competition, a dance of romance, and a sitcom gone awry. There will be wrestling and zombies. There will be lights, original music, and bodies telling each narrative, weaving them all into a singular evening of activated imagination and a dive into the deep deep
Our kick-off toast is Saturday, January 19; weeknight performances will be followed by an Out Loud series, featuring various community leaders in discussion with the show; January 25 is singles night (get a drink on the house and a reserved seat with other singles!); Sundays January 27 and February 3 are Relaxed Performances for noise-making in the theater; Saturday, February 2 is followed by a bubbly toast for Donor Night. Accessibility details uploaded in January.
Nick Abeel, Becky Baumwoll, Duane Cooper, Blake Habermann, David Jenkins, Marissa Molnar, Joél Pérez, Regan Sims, and Matt Zambrano performing. Additional company members of BKBX include Géraldine Dulex, Ismael Castillo, Dinah Berkeley, and Tasha Milkman.
Lighting design is by Jamie Roderick, and Esti Bernstein serves as stage manager.
Our Out Loud series includes: 1/23: Cyrus Aaron, storyteller and humanitarian discussing "Traditions of Storytelling and their Modern Interpretations" 1/24: Vigie Ramos Rios, the campaign organizer for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez discussing "Community-Building through Empathy" 1/31: JW Guido, New York Deaf Theatre Artistic Director discussing "Using Negative Space in Communication" (interpreter provided)
