"Glitter in the Gutter" with Catherine Cabeen and Kristina Berger
Berger and Cabeen in "Glitter in the Gutter", photo by Zoe Markwalter

"Glitter in the Gutter" is an intimate evening of raunchy dance theater created and performed by Catherine Cabeen and Kristina Berger. The comedic duet, "Glitter in the Gutter", embodies the glamour and grit weaving together the lives of two aging performers. The program also features Cabeen's humorous solo Ready, Aim... a playful close look at the deluge of crotch flashes in contemporary dance, Berger's contemplative solo Threshold that explores the space between identities, and live music by jazz pianist Greg Woodsbie.

Cabeen and Berger have been collaborating on making humor their passport through life since 2014. Berger is an international artist whose career ranges from Circus showgirl to Balinese Monkey King to principle dancer with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company to Assistant Professor at Dean College. Cabeen is a former member of the Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Company, the Martha Graham Dance Company, and Richard Moves MoveOpolis! She is currently the director of her own performance company Hyphen, and an Assistant Professor at Marymount Manhattan College. Greg Woodsbie is a wide-ranging pianist based in Boston.

"Glitter in the Gutter, a wonderfully incisive comedic duet with choreography, text and luminous performances by Cabeen and Kristina Berger We cant wait for the next installment."
Bonnie Rosenstock ExploreDance.com 1/26/18

"This satire of dancers attempting to wedge their foot in the industry door is a familiar one to the dance community and the comic relief provided in the ensuing dialogue sets the tone of humble character and quick-wit from the company members."
Brandon Kazen-Maddox EYE ON THE ARTS, NY 1/30/18

"a rich, and hilarious, collaboration"

Downtown's intimate supper-club Pangea is the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret. The New York Times recently called it "a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Max's Kansas City from days gone by."
