An Enemy of the People
AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE closed Feb. 17, 2007. Please check out our current production: LIFE OF GALILEO !

Henrik Ibsen's fiery play, famously adapted for Americans by Arthur Miller.  Directed by Greg Carter.

Featuring Amy Fleetwood as Dr. Stockman, with Timothy Hyland, Jack Greenman, Jeanette Maus, Troy Fischnaller, Walter Dalton, Alan Lason, Brandon Whitehead, TJ Langley, Kim MacKay

When the resident physician in a small Norwegian town discovers that the local springs are poisoned, she is shocked to find that instead of being thanked, she is looked upon as a dangerous enemy of society.  As town officials and local media do their utmost to urge secrecy, the determined Doctor realizes that the honesty and idealism she has counted upon to make the truth prevail simply do not exist in the face of selfish "practical" interests.  In the end the townspeople, gathered outside the home which the doctor's family must soon leave, cast stones through the windows. She addresses her children: "Remember now, everybody, you are fighting for the truth and that is why you're alone. And that makes you strong"

"[Amy Fleetwood's] performance is gripping."

"This Enemy burns with a surprising intensity, illuminating hidden corners of a social and political fable as old as civilization itself."

"...rich in poetic and social insights...directed and acted by persons who have the muscle and imagination to bring the elements of the writing to life..."
