Aida Shahghasemi and The Lacewings at the Wolf House
Bella Luna Studios at the Wolf House proudly presents an evening of music with Aida Shahghasemi and The Lacewings at the magical, intimate Wolf House.
Time: Doors 7:00, Music 7:30
Description: What can voices do? What can womens stories, when we lay them side by side and mix them around, tell us about the way the world is? Can our traditions mingle in the air and illuminate a path forward? Aida Shahghasemi and The Lacewings (Katherine Parent & Sarah Larsson) are Twin Cities-based artists putting their music to the work of creating new narratives, collectively and individually. Drawing from their respective roots and throwing old melodies forward into the future, they weave a new vision of stories and meaning through rich harmony and song.
The Lacewings Bio: The Lacewings are an acoustic duo drawing from deep roots of womens folk music from Europe and North America. Katherine Parent is a resident artist and activist at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and completing a PhD in History at Luther Seminary, studying the history of Lutherans and race in the Midwest. Sarah Larsson studies folk music from Eastern Europe, performs in The Nightingale Trio, and is a 2018 recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant, and 2019 recipient of the State Arts Board Folk & Traditional Arts grant. The duo imagines themselves in old shoes: folk music interwoven with stories of women working, learning together, and making a life through art.
