LitFest Pasadena Holiday Kickoff Party at the Lovely Pasadena home of Bill and Mary Lea Carroll
You don't want to miss this fun and festive gathering of Light Bringer Project and LitFest Pasadena organizers for friends, family, authors, artists, and more. Open to everyone, and bring someone new! There will be holiday treats to eat and plenty of cheer.
Your $20 donation per person helps LitFest Pasadena cover mounting costs associated with the expanded two-day festival for the coming new year. LitFest Pasadena is produced by Light Bringer Project, a nonprofit arts and education organization serving Pasadena and Los Angeles, and Literature for Life, its literary journal and educational program which enables local authors and illustrators to visit public schools and discuss their stories and images.
At the Holiday Party, there will be Hot Mexican Buffet, Tequila Tasting Station, Mexican Hot Chocolate, wine, beer and soft drinks and holiday sweets, LitFest Organizers and authors, brief announcements about the festival in Spring, Warm Fire, lively conversations and mingling at the lovely 100 year old Pasadena home of Bill and (author) Mary Lea Carroll.

More About LitFest Pasadena 2019:
The 8th Annual event takes place on the weekend of May 18 & 19, 2019. It features dozens of readings, panels and literary performances with over 150 authors. LitFest Pasadena, produced by nonprofit arts and education organization, Light Bringer Project, and Literature for Life, the literary journal and resource for educators, is offered free to the public. It is held in the historic Playhouse District in Pasadena, with anchor locations at Pasadena Playhouse and Vroman's Bookstore, also utilizing businesses, restaurants and coffee houses and galleries in the area. The writer-driven festival celebrates diversity of people, genres and thought, offers books for sale, and includes a new features like, KidsFest at LitFest, special programming designed just for children and youth. In addition, celebrity guests will join us to deliver dramatic readings for our science fiction writing competitions for adults and Los Angeles teens, The Roswell Award and The Tomorrow Prize. This year's LitFest Pasadena will be dedicated to the memory and spirit of Jonathan Gold, who played a significant role in the Los Angeles writers community, and who participated in each of the LitFest Pasadena events up to and including our most recent event last May.
About the Carroll's Historic Home:
Literature for Life contributing author, Mary Lea Carroll, remembers vividly what sold her and her husband, Bill, on a 100-year-old Dutch Colonial when they were house-hunting in the Historic Highlands neighborhood of Pasadena.
"My husband is 6 foot 5, and he didn't have to duck anywhere in the house," she said. "It was love at first sight."
The Carrolls had lived in the Highlands for five years and wanted to stay there when they moved up to a larger house in 1992. "It's a wonderful neighborhood," said Bill Carroll, 44, partner in a motion picture advertising firm, "with nice families, older houses and beautiful trees."
The Carrolls home has five bedrooms and three baths in 4,000 square feet and was built in 1890 by David J. MacPherson, the civil engineer whose greatest achievement was the famous Mt. Lowe Scenic Railway. The trolley-and-cable car railway, which opened in 1895, ran six miles from Altadena to Mt. Lowe, 3,300 feet above in the San Gabriel Mountains. It closed in 1937.
