2019 Habitat Hero-Native Pollinators/Native Plants
Our keynote speaker will be Scott Hoffman Black who will join us on a video conference call projected on two large screens. Scott is the executive director of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, an international conservation organization that works to protect insects and other invertebrates and their habitats.
He will discuss the latest science on pollinators, their importance and decline, and what we can all do to help. The title of his talk is: BUMBLE BEES, MONARCHS AND MORE: HOW WE CAN ALL HELP BRING BACK THE POLLINATORS.
Our second speaker of the morning will be Ross Shrigley who is the executive director of Plant Select in Fort Collins, CO. He is responsible for directing, managing, and promoting the Plant Select program and its mission to be the countrys leading brand of plants designed to thrive in high plains and inter-mountain regions. He will discuss the Plant Select program and how it relates to native plant varieties and native pollinators.
The afternoon will be a hands-on workshop in which you will learn how to do winter sowing of native seeds that need to scarify in cold weather to successfully sprout in the spring. You will create your own container of planted native seeds to take home and set outside for the winter (all materials will be provided).
Lunch will be provided in the cost of admission.
Register early; there are only 75 seats available.
Registration is $20 plus the ticket processing fee.
Price includes lunch and all materials.
