Snap on 2&4 w/ Evan Cobb
On Friday, May 17, NJW is pleased to welcome saxophonist Evan Cobb and his quintet to the jazz cave for their Snap on 2&4 debut!

After years of studying piano and singing in choirs as a child, New Jersey native Evan Cobb began playing saxophone and found his interest in jazz while in high school. He formally studied oboe performance at Northwestern University, where he also earned a Certificate in jazz studies. After several years of performing in the Chicago area with his popular band Buddha's Belly, Evan returned to the Northeast and attended SUNY Purchase, where he earned a Master's degree studying with greats such as Eric Alexander, Jon Faddis, John Riley, Steve Wilson, and Javon Jackson.

Since making Nashville his home in the fall of 2008, Evan has worked with myriad ensembles and styles including the Nashville Symphony, the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker, JD Souther, and Aretha Franklin.  Cobb keeps a large studio of private students of the saxophone, oboe, flute, and clarinet, and also directs our own Nashville Jazz Workshop Summer Jazz Camp.  His album Falling Up, mostly borne in his popular monthly jam sessions at the Nashville Jazz Workshop, has received extensive airplay and has charted among the Top 50 Jazz Albums of Jazz Week in 2012.

Rounding out the quintet are Matt White (trumpet), Bruce Dudley (piano), Jonathan Wires (bass), and Josh Hunt (drums).

The show will consist of 2 sets, beginning at 8pm. Doors open at 7:15.

Admission is $20 / $10 high school and college students with ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday, May 6 at 10AM and will be available online on this page, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006) or during business hours at the NJW office (242-5299). A small convenience charge is added to online or 800-number purchases.
