Jazz @ the cell: Celebrating Lennie Tristano

This month we celebrate Lennie Tristano's music.

Young Lennie heard Bartòk and integrated his music, and the mathematical ideas based on the Fibonacci series.

The aesthetic results can be defined as disconnected, a way of momentarily circumlocuting any harmonic, rhythmic and temporal boundaries inherent in the bebop tradition, out of which he emerged and he chose to explore!

The movements in this tribute are meant to be evocative snapshots moments of caffeinated bliss, embarrassing subway mishaps, the buzzing energy of a city driven by dynamic, thoughtful, talented, and slightly crazy people that coalesce into a more complete story... C# complex and line up a life story!

~Conceptually inspired by Ornette Coleman's existential quests, "The Shape of Jazz to Come" and the seminal "Tomorrow is the Question!"~
