Lunch with a Leader: Gary Simpson
Leadership Kitsap Alumni Association's Lunch With A Leader series is designed to benefit all Leadership Kitsap Alumni. Join our regional leaders for lunch and hear the stories of their leadership journeys. The conversations will be organic, thought-provoking, and alumni-lead. Lunches are quarterly. We will take the first 12 alumni to sign up.
While there is NO CHARGE for this opportunity for our alumni, if you do not show and do not cancel within 12 hours of the event, you will be charged $15 for your lunch. We anticipate a waiting list and people would value the chance to attend that were not able to be one of the first 12.
Sheriff Gary Simpson has been with the Sheriff's Office since 1984, beginning as a Deputy Sheriff, including time in the Marine Services Unit, as a K9 Handler, Patrol Corporal and Sergeant, and Chief Civil Deputy. Sheriff Boyer placed Gary in command of his largest division in 2003. Sheriff Simpson has been awarded the Sheriff's Medal of Valor for heroism and is a graduate of the 206th Executive Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
He was first elected Sheriff in 2014. Gary is commonly called upon to represent the Sheriff's Department at a number of community organizational gatherings, boards, and work groups. He serves as a board member for the YWCA and Habitat for Humanity. He serves on the Compassionate Friends of Kitsap County Advisory Board, Peninsula Work Release Advisory Board, Kitsap 911 Policy Board, and State Insurance Commissioners Insurance Fraud Advisory Board. Gary is a mentor with the Bremerton School Districts AVID Program and a volunteer with the WA State Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run. Gary is a 1997 graduate of Leadership Kitsap and a recipient of the Leadership Kitsap Outstanding Alumni Award.
