American Buffalo
The Gestalt Theatre Project returns to The Box in downtown Riverside beginning November 16 with David Mamets American Buffalo. The play takes place over the course of one long day in a rundown Chicago junk shop. It is about friendship, loyalty and an ill-fated plan to rob someone of a coin of questionable value. Is the robbery about vengeance? Or is it a desperate and misguided attempt by three men to change their lives? In classic Mamet style, words are wielded as weapons. The play is equal parts hilarious and shocking. Please be warnedthis is not a play for those easily offended by language. It also contains violence that may prove disturbing. Discretion is advised.
The Gestalt Theatre Project is known for productions such as The Pillowman, True West, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Arcadia, The Shape of Things, Eleemosynary and West Coast Premieres of The Library and When We Were Young and Unafraid.
