APNM Presents a Concert for Strings & Piano
New Yorks Association for the Promotion of New Music [APNM] is proud to announce that five of the Citys most talented and adventurous young new music musicians will play three new pieces composed by its own members.
The concert will take place on September 21 this year, 8 PM
at The Kosciuszko Foundation, 15 East 65th Street in Manhattan.
General Admission: $20; Student/Senior Admission: $15.
The top-notch musicians will include champion of contemporary music Jesse Mills, a two-time Grammy nominated violinist; Miranda Cuckson, a brilliant, artistically gifted, and amazingly dexterous groundbreaking violinist, whom Downbeat magazine called one of the most sensitive and electric interpreters of new music; Max Mandel, a venturous and widely acclaimed violist; Raman Ramakrishna, founding member and current cellist of the Horszowski Trio; and Rieko Aizawa, a wonderful pianist, praised by the NY Times for her impressive musicality, a crisp touch and expressive phrasing.

The three pieces will be Echo (2014), a piano trio with cello and violin, by Marjorie Merryman; String Theory (World Premiere), a piece with rounded corners for strings by Thomas James; and String Quartet (1992) an early work by APNM President Erik Lundborg and a New York Premiere.

Enthused by both the program and the artists, Lundborg stresses that:

"Each of the highly-skilled string players have experimented in the most advance techniques and a range of experience that is unrivaled in contemporary music."

As a result, he is confident that the concert will be:

"Modernism with a consonant accent, intense rhythmic complexity and contrasting moods echoing to and fro within the beautiful, quiet, and woody concert hall of Kosciuszko Foundation."
