Danny Come Home
This family musical by Mark Pietri and Michael Kaplan had a successful premiere at the Cambria Center for the Arts Theater in 2017. A concert version, partially funded by a grant from Arts Obispo Coastal Awakening program, is now being performed at the UU Fellowship in San Luis Obispo. "Danny Come Home" is inspired by a true story reported by the San Luis Obispo Tribune. It is the story of a small town split in half over a controversy about who gets to keep a runaway dog. It shows how rumors and public opinion can spiral out of control and how people fall in love and reinvent themselves on the internet. Above all, it's a classical musical comedy tale of Boy meets Girl meets Dog.
