32-hour DPSST certified entry level auto extrication course

This course is designed to meet the requirements of the NFPA 1670 Technician Level Course for Vehicle & Machinery
Rescue. It is geared toward responders who want a better understanding of Heavy Vehicle & Machinery operations,
rescue techniques, and plans. This class will use the two day Advanced Extrication class as its foundation and continue
to build up from there. The third & fourth days will cover advanced Lifting Bag use, Basic Overhead Rigging, Heavy
Vehicles, Construction Equipment, Farm Machinery, and Industrial Machinery. Anatomy & Physiology of the
equipment, entrapment scenarios, and patient removal/disentanglement will be covered in both classroom & hands on
drills. Once the students understand how the equipment is put together, how it operates, and how patients become
entrapped; they can use this knowledge to work backwards and free the patient. Understanding the A&P of any vehicle or
machinery is the key to a successful rescue, the students will come away with a strong understanding of rescue planning &
techniques once they finish this course. This class also covers the required topics for the Farm Medic certification as well.
The hours from this class can be applied to DPSST Vehicle & Machinery Technician (certified through DPSST)
certification, EMS re-certification hours, and FF I or FF II re-certification hours.
