Basic Hand Sewing Skills - Make a Colonial Needle-Book
Needles were valuable tools in colonial America and were stored in handmade cases and containers.  One such case in Landis Valley's collection is stitched of several printed fabrics with inside flannel "pages" for needles.

Now, you can learn basic hand-sewing stitches to create your own beautiful place to store your needles.  The book folds into an approximately 2-in X 3-in. piece made from the fabric of your choice.  Previous hand sewing experience is helpful, but all necessary stitches will be taught.

Bring needles, dress-making pins, sharp scissors, water soluble marker or pencil, and a small ruler to the class.  You may also bring a thimble, but it's optional.  Check in at the Landis Valley Museum Store by 12:45 p.m.  Class is located upstairs.

Please note that class size is limited.

Cancellation policy:  All materials must be pre-purchased by the instructor, therefore cancellations can only be refunded prior to September 15.
