ARTIST'S TALK: CHICAGO OPERA THEATRE "MARIA DE BUENOS AIRES" AND FILM BURNT ORANGES
In collaboration with the Chicago Opera Theatre and the office of the Consulate of Argentina in Chicago, USA, the Instituto Cervantes brings you - "Burnt Oranges" the film screening, reception and Q&A with director Silvia Malagrino. The evening will also include live excerpts from COT's Maria De Buenos Aires production.
Burnt Oranges is an award winning poetic documentary by Chicago filmmaker Silvia Malagrino in collaboration with writer Monica Flores Correa and editor Sharon Karp. The film examines the long-term effects and repercussions of Argentina's 1970's state terrorism through a combination of intimate witness narration, interviews, documentary, and re-created footage. The film is a personal and artistic portrayal of a country's struggles to confront its painful past, and a reminder of the global necessity to defend human rights and democratic values.
