Caroline Scott Players brings you a wonderful, participatory performance, The Mirrorman,  a "vintage" play that is rarely performed today.

The Toymaker has created a most unusual doll that, with the audience's help, can walk and talk. They are swept into a series of adventures by the Toymaker's reflection in the mirror -- The Mirrorman who needs help to protect his book of spells and magic from a Witch who would conquer the world behind mirrors. The happy conclusion to this internationally acclaimed, hugely popular classic is one that involves the continuous, enthusiastic participation of the audience.

The Mirrorman was first produced by Theatre Centre in 1964. It was written and directed by the author, Brian Way, for presentation to young school children and toured throughout the British Isles.   Way (1923  2006), a British teacher, director, and writer, is credited with originating educational theater for children. He and Margaret Faulkes, in founding the Theatre Center in London, introduced the concept of informal theatrical performances in school, and the expansion of arts education. In his lifetime he wrote over 50 plays, including Pinocchio, The Mirrorman, and Sleeping Beauty, as well as the renowned text Audience Participation.
