Advanced Poetry Workshop with Matt Miller
Advanced Poetry Workshop: This will be a workshop for poets who already have work in progress and are looking to work with fellow poets in a collaborative way to prepare their work for publication. We will discuss formal elements like line, syntax, diction, image, and even rhyme and meter as we try to find improve our poems. We will read other poets as models, we will consider major revision techniques, dive into some in-class generative writing, and wonder if a poem can ever really be done. We will discuss, as well, publication and the submission process. Participants should come with generous spirits and a willingness to work.
Matt W. Miller was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts and is the author of The Wounded for the Water (2108, Salmon Poetry), Club Icarus, selected by Major Jackson as the 2012 Vassar Miller Poetry Prize winner, and Cameo Diner: Poems (Loom Press).
