Story of Bulleit
Tom Bulleit, Local Three's guest for the Distiller Dinner on February 27th, is the Master Distiller for Bulleit Bourbon.
In 1987, Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr. decided it was time to revive his great-great grandfather, Augustus Bulleit's legendary Bourbon recipe by creating the Bulleit Distilling Company. Tom Bulleit was the first one in the family to recreate Bulleit Bourbon in the tradition that Augustus followed more than 150 years earlier.
At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the most prestigious in America, Bulleit Bourbon has been consistently awarded medals. In 2011, Bulleit Bourbon earned a gold medal, and the Bulleit Rye a double gold.
At Local Three's bourbon dinner with Tom Bulleit, we will also be tasting Bulleit 10 year, a limited release from the company. Here is what Bulleit Bourbon had to say in a press release:
"Aged in charred American white oak, a select number of Bulleit Bourbon barrels were set aside to age for ten years to see how the already award-winning bourbon would develop. Bulleit distillers were thrilled to find that the additional years resulted in a special expression of Bulleit Bourbon that provides a rich, deep, incredibly smooth sipping experience that maintains the inherent character and high rye content for which the Bulleit brand is best known."
