Aloft Circus Arts, an internationally renowned contemporary circus company from Chicago will take over Circus Floras tent for a late night, punk rock, circus cabaret filled with impossible circus skills and comedy without a net.

Called An adorably hilarious success by Time Out Chicago, and a Circus thats on the fly and bit in your face by the Denver Post, El Circo Cheapo grew out of the DIY punk ethos and launched in 2008 at the beginning of the Great Recession. Bankers werent allowed to hire us to do the splits on the silks over their hot tubs anymore so we had to figure out something else, Director Shayna Swanson explains. So, we decided to make ART! Its a collection of brilliant contemporary circus acts with a potty mouthed Ringmaster tying it all together.

El Circo Cheapo is Alofts most successful show, having recently completed an eight year run of completely sold-out shows in an almost-abandoned warehouse on Chicagos west side. We thought we should quit before someone figured out what were us to, Swanson says. Now, El Circo Cheapo is solely a touring show, and Saint Louis will find them sneaking under Circus Floras tent flaps for one night only.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase and all proceeds benefit Circus Flora. Featured among the performers will be graduates of Alofts Two Year Professional Training Program as well as members of Alofts core company and special guests.
