The MINNESOTA MUSIC COALITION is a statewide network for independent musicians who care about creating and sustaining a vibrant popular music community. Through education, communication, and advocacy, we create access to resources and professional development services.
LYDIA LIZA got her start in the group Bomba de Luz, composed of five young Twin Cities musicians. After gaining extensive Twin Cities notoriety as a band to watch via appearances on NPR, Consequence of Sound, and 89.3 The Current, Bomba De Luz was invited to play First Avenues Best New Bands showcase in 2012.
Lydia Liza received a 4 year, full-ride scholarship for songwriting and composition to McNally Smith College of Music after she was recognized as a promising new artist through her many features and collaborations. Some collaborations of note are her work with Toki Wright & Big Cats, Eric Mayson, Xela, Slack, Homeless & Big Cats, Dem AtlaS, many Rhymesayers artists, Jeremy Messersmith and other various artists from the Twin Cities and the Midwest area.
In 2016, Lydia Liza and her boyfriend, Josiah Lemanski, went globally viral for a re-write of "Baby Its Cold Outside". The two were featured on 89.3 The Current, CNN, Time Magazine, People Magazine, Billboard, and FOX news to name a few. The song got extensive radio-play and became number 1 on Spotify. The two donated the proceeds to The Sexual Violence Center of Minnesota and RAINN.
CHRIS KOZA is a singer-songwriter-composer living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Critics have taken note ranging from local press: The mans got pop down! (Minnesota Monthly) to national attention: Paste Magazine calls Rogue Valley one Minnesotas best bands. Koza performs with regularity in the Twin Cities, the greater Minnesota region, and also nationally, supporting such artists as Brandi Carlile, The Jayhawks, Blitzen Trapper, Stephen Kellogg, Tift Merrit, and Field Report.
Over the last several years, Koza and his band Rogue Valley have released a total of nine albums and EPs. In addition to writing and recording his own music, Koza is also involved with co-writing and arranging songs with other artists, and is exploring commercial and film opportunities. Kozas songs have been featured on numerous television shows including ABCs Cougartown; MTVs Jersey Shore and Matt & Kim; and CBSs 2013 Superbowl pregame show. International musicblog Americana UK gave Kozas most recent solo release, The Dark, Delirious Morning, 9 out of 10 stars, calling it an unpretentious little masterpiece.Koza is currently developing new work both as a solo artist and with Rogue Valley.
