WORKSHOP: The Physicality of Acting
THE PHYSICALITY OF ACTING

When it comes to acting, text is less important than you think. The key part of the word 'acting,' after all, is 'act'  and often times, it's the actions that catalyze the text (as well as other actions). It's what you do (and what you don't do) that matters  and how you do (or don't do) it.

When it comes to writing a novel  in that situation  the text is important. (And, even then, there are many boring books. [Let's not get too bogged down in text.])

This workshop will not teach you exactly how to do anything on stage  because there are a thousand ways to do any one thing; and there is no one, universally 'right' way (sorry, people looking for answers)  but it will begin to open some doorways into the physicality of acting.

TESTIMONIALS FROM MICHAEL'S OTHER ("LE JEU") WORKSHOP

"Michael led a great workshop from start to finish. He maintained a good sense of rhythm and kept everyone engaged. This workshop helped remind me to love every minute that I have with a friend on stage. His exercises covered everything from physicality to voice, and it was a great overview of 'le jeu!'"  Devin

"The Le Jeu Workshop taught me to value myself - without words - onstage. It also taught me about communicating feelings, especially genuine joy. Although my workshop-mates and I came from a wide range of experience onstage, I could tell that all of our boundaries were pushed and all of us learned a lot."  Christina

"Taking the time to give attention to my presence on stage and the nonverbal ways I can connect with my scene partner multiplied the work that I've put into character and scene work. Do more, saying less, who can turn that down? It's one thing to know the value in tapping into your bliss on stage, Michael takes you there."  Matt

REVIEWS FOR THE EULOGY

"Burgos shares DNA with the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Sid Caesar."  The Washington Post

"a crazy explosion of physical comedy. [...] Hurtling from character to character with breathtaking speed, Burgos evokes the spirits of some great comedians, from Charlie Chaplin and Jonathan Winters to Robin Williams."  Rochester City Newspaper

"Michael Burgos expertly uses pantomime, character voices, and music to bring this parody far beyond [logic] and into the realm of absurdity. Every motion demands our attention. [...] Using his superior comedic timing, Burgos uses the 'less is more' approach to build into an enthralling conclusion. [...] 'The Eulogy' is not only a singularly entertaining and cathartic experience; it leaves us feeling slightly bewildered, yet happy to be alive."  Edge Media Network
