The Quahogs and Smith & Weeden

On Friday, April 27th, we're psyched to have two great Providence bands make the journey down to Peace Dale, The Quahogs and Smith & Weeden. These guys can really rock!

Tickets are $15, available at the door and online. Doors open at 7pm. Get here early and get in the mood with a good brew or your favorite drink. Bring your hunger, and we'll feed you, too. Don't miss it.

About The Quahogs:
Its difficult to define a band like The Quahogs by a genre. Equal parts tender and heavy rock, singer/songwriter Steve DelMonicos lyrics are witty, wise, and delivered with a mentholated authority. Steve Donovans lead guitar meanders from gently weeping to chainsaw shredding, oftentimes in the same song. Amato and Nick on bass and drums round out the sound by hanging in the back pocket like a full wallet. Their most recent release, an 11 song LP titled Sunny Waste, was recorded at the revered Columbus Theatre in Providence. It highlights their eclectic vision of rock-and-roll - think of Townes Van Zandt shaking hands with The Meat Puppets and 70s era Rolling Stones. They are becoming well-known for their high-energy live performances, but are equally comfortable in a stripped-down environment.

About Smith & Weeden:
Smith and Weeden are a Rock and Roll Band from Providence. One could leave it at that but it seems the confidence that comes with wearing such a badge is both rejuvenating and inspiring and worth a little more explanation.The songwriting is strong and the respect to those before them is apparent in the chemistry as well as the chorus you end up singing the rest of the week. All hail the group vocal and harmonies. Champion the Les Paul, Telecaster and Fender Bass direct to the amp with no pit stops in between. A backbeat that is all business. Smith & Weeden have no interest in being flashy, perfect or polished. They show up fueled with the desire to find the sweet spot in the room. The one where everything mixes itself. The sound coaxes. You are moving somewhere between a sway and a mosh. Kinda stiff, kinda loose. You know, Rock and Roll.
