You know how to play a bunch of regular short form games, but now how about adding some music to make it even more fun? Spice up your short form with the sweet secrets of silly song!
Join us as we review the basics of improvised singing and revisit some familiar (and not so familiar) short form games before combining both for double the challenge and twice the fun! Let's take your mad short form skillz to the next level.
Prerequisite: Completion of Short Form 1, Short Form Fun Time (with Laura Patrick), short form stage performance experience (i.e., cast of the Happier FAMILY Comedy Show,) or the equivalent at another comedy school.
About Your Teachers: Misch Whitaker has studied, performed and taught improv for over ten years since her modest beginnings in Mission:IMPROVable at UMass Amherst; past credits include Improv Asylum NXT (2007-2008), Improv Asylum Mainstage (2008-2012) and ImprovBoston Mainstage (2013-2014). She is co-creator and producer of the musical children's improv show KERPLUNK! at Catalyst Comedy. Misch both performs with as well as directs Boston's Unscripted Musical Project (B.U.M.P) and Dirty Disney. Misch teaches and coaches improv for all ages at home in Boston and has also taught workshops at international events such as the Swedish International Improv Festival (2016) and the MamaCity Improv Festival (2018).
Patrick Parhiala cut his comedy teeth at the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a member of Mission: IMPROVable. Past credits include ImprovBoston Mainstage, Improv Asylum's NXT Cast, Boston's Unscripted Musical Project, Frannie (an improvised musical parody), and High Hamlet. He tours internationally with the group Big Bang and his musical duo show Pat & Misch Break Up. Patrick performs in Boston on the cast of Dirty Disney, a delightful contrast to his day job: super wholesome preschool teacher.
Arman Mohammad is a pianist and musical director from South Portland, ME. He studied classical piano for 18 years, participating in piano competitions around New England. He currently serves as the musical director for Break a Leg Theater Works in Plymouth, and Catalyst Comedy's Boston's Unscripted Musical Project. Arman studied music and biochemistry at Boston College, and when he is not on stage or teaching can be found working as a genetics researcher at MIT.
