Film Screening & Discussion: Healing Neen
(NOTE: this is one of two screenings being offered; for a link to registration for the other screening, go to  https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3354251  )

We invite you to join the RMO for a screening of the award-winning, inspiring and hopeful film "Healing Neen" and a thought-provoking panel discussion following the film with:

Mark Wilson, Chief, Lancaster County Adult Probation & Parole
Judge Margaret Miller, Lancaster County Mental Health Court
Jill, Successful Returning Citizen
David, Successful Returning Citizen

"Healing Neen" examines the intersections of trauma, addiction, mental health, and criminal justice system involvement, and most importantly, the power and possibilities for resilience and healing.

After surviving a childhood of abuse and neglect, Tonier Neen Cain lived on the streets for two nightmarish decades, where she endured unrelenting violence, hunger and despair while racking up 66 criminal convictions related to her addiction. Incarcerated and pregnant in 2004, treatment for her lifetime of trauma offered her a way out... and up. Her story illustrates the consequences that untreated trauma has on individuals and society at-large, including mental health problems, addiction, homelessness and incarceration. Today, she is a nationally renowned speaker and educator on the devastation of trauma and the hope of recovery.

The RMO for Returning Citizens (http://lancastercountyreentry.org/) is a collaborative, community-wide initiative founded in Lancaster County in 2005 to address issues related to incarceration and reentry. Our latest initiative is building the foundation for a trauma-informed criminal justice system in Lancaster County.

Each year, 6000 people are released from Lancaster County Prison, and an additional 700 people are released from PA state prisons back to Lancaster County.

Approximately 10,000 Lancaster County residents are under supervision with Lancaster County Adult Probation/Parole each year.

Join us for an enlightening and thought-provoking event examining trauma, addiction, mental health issues and criminal justice system involvement, and learn about some of the things being done in Lancaster County through the RMO's collaborative work.
