How to Make a Float for the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena -- Josh D'Acquisto
Making a float for the Tournament of Roses Parade is a year-round process for the Cal Poly Rose Float Team. Come learn what goes into this process, from the design phase, to steel construction, to planting and harvesting flowers.
This workshop will provide an overview of this 70-year collaboration between two CSU campuses, the oversight by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and the details of the custom-built float chassis. A tour of the San Luis Obispo Rose Float Lab will be part of the experience. The tour will include displays of the float chassis and other structural items necessary to operate the float.
Josh DAcquisto has been the Rose Float Coordinator for the Cal Poly float team for several years. He splits his time between the float making teams at the Cal Poly campus in SLO and the Cal Poly campus in Pomona.
