ARAB LABOR - With guest author Sayed Kashua
Thursday, March 7 at 7pm
followed by a reception in the lobby

This event is co-sponsored with the Israel Center of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation as part of the Cultural Blvd Author Series.

Enjoy two episodes of Arab Labor and then talk with acclaimed writer Sayed Kashua!

ARAB LABOR is a raucous and irreverent critically acclaimed comedy series from Israel about Amjad, a Palestinian journalist and Israeli citizen in search of his identity. This comedy series that pierces the taboos of acceptable language and humor surrounding the prickly, long-standing status quo in which Palestinian and Jewish Israelis live side by side.

VISITING SPEAKER:
Sayed Kashua is the author of three novels: Dancing Arabs , Let it Be Morning, and Second Person Singular, winner of the Berstein Prize. Kashua also writers a satirical weekly column in Hebrew for the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz. In a humorous, tongue-in-cheek style, Kashua addresses the problems faced by Arabs in Israel caught between two worlds. He is the writer and creator of the hit Israeli TV show "Arab Labor" (Avoda Aravit), now in its third season. In 2004, Kashua was awarded the Prime Minister's Prize in Literature. He is also the subject of the documentary "Forever Scared".
