Poetry of Place Workshop with Susie DeFord
Poetry of place focuses on the landscapes we know, have traveled to, or imagine. Our identities are tied to place and reflected in our writing. We will focus on both the mundane and the sublime of our surroundings and how that effects and informs our inner lives.
In this class we will:
-bring in poems by other writers to study how they write about place
-bring in photographs of places that are familiar or foreign to write about and discuss
-Generate poems from prompts focusing how place shapes and influences our worldview
-Edit our poems focusing on line and musicality of language
This class is for all levels of writers.
