Do you dream of writing a book but have no idea where to begin?  Publishing 101 teaches aspiring writers the nuts and bolts of writing and publishing.  This course is the first in a series designed to take you from writer to author.

Publishing 101 covers:

Traditional vs. Self vs. Hybrid Publishing -- Which is right for you?
Long form vs. Short form, Genres, Word Count, Deliverables -- What these mean and why they matter.
Whos Who? -- The role of editors, publishers, agents, sales and marketing and others in the industry.
Comparative Titles and Exemplars  -- Why you should be using these powerful tools to improve your writing.
The Importance of Multiple Drafts -- How many drafts?  How to find beta readers, and work with editors to polish your writing.
Tools of the Trade  -- Writing, editing, and marketing tools we use and recommend.
Finding a Team -- Why writing with a tribe is so much better than writing alone.
Knowing When your Book is Ready -- Answering all your questions about knowing when to go out to agents.
Ready, set, querying with success!

Your instructor for Publishing 101 is Sandra O'Donnell.  Sandra has twenty-plus years of experience in the publishing industry.  She taught writing at the university level, owned her own publishing company and has been publishing consultant, book coach, and a literary agent. As a partner at RO Literary, Sandra's goal is to develop authors, not just sell books.  She and her agency partner Laura are very hands-on with their authors.  They do developmental editing, author branding, and marketing and PR for the books they undertake.  Sandra's knowledge of the publishing industry is deep and wide, making her a valuable resource for those dipping into writing and publishing.

The course takes place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9:00 - 4:00 and Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 1:00 -4:00.  Light lunch and snacks are provided both days.
