This one will be tremendous: VERONNEAU's music is both brilliant and varied. Doors open at 6:30 for a full vegetarian feast (a gift from your host), and music starts at 7:30. The Casa is a private home: leave your shoes at the door but you may BYOB inside! Tickets are $25, limited, and likely to sell out in advance. 100% of sales goes to the artists.
With awards for Best Jazz Group, Best Jazz Vocals, and Best Jazz Recording and four albums. VERONNEAU blends Brazilian jazz, French chanson and swing standards with their own original compositions. Vocalist Lynn Véronneau, guitarist and singer Ken Avis, and acoustic guitarist David Rosenblatt are all based in Washington D.C. and have performed across the D.C. region, Canada and the UK captivating audiences in festivals, concert halls and jazz clubs such as Blues Alley, The Kennedy Center, Strathmore AMP and DC Jazz Festival. VERONNEAUs albums Joie de Vivre and Jazz Samba Project were both in the US Top 10 charts for World and Jazz music, and are internet radio hits.
This exceptional group has also developed and presented a two week Brazilian music festival, documentary movie and musical play building on the release of their Jazz Samba Project album, which celebrated the 1962 Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd album of the same name. Their brand new album Love & Surrender is their most personal collection of songs yet. It explores the complex and mature facets of love. The new album will be released to Casa Phoenix patrons on Dec 10 ahead of its nationwide release of Jan 2018.
Special guest and longtime collaborator violinist Dave Kline will join the trio. Dave has played the Casa Phoenix before, to great acclaim, and we are delighted to have lured him back.
