Almir Côrtes Quartet

Mandolin and guitar master Almir Côrtes was born in Santo Antonio de Jesus, in the Brazilian state of Bahia. Both a musician and researcher of Brazilian instrumental music, his expertise lies within the traditional genres of choro, frevo, baiao and others, while his performance of those styles includes contemporary experimentation and improvisation. A multi-instrumentalist equally adept at mandolin, guitar, cavaquinho and viola caipira, he was released acclaimed albums as a bandleader and gives workshops the world over.
