ABOUT MAYA FREELON ASANTE: Maya Freelon Asante is an award-winning visual artist whose work was described by the late poet Maya Angelou as "visualizing the truth about the vulnerability and power of the human being.
WHO IS GEMYNII? Gemynii is a self taught artist who mainly works with painting. She is also a poet, art instructor, music curator, and community activist. Gemynii currently lives and works in Durham.
ABOUT STEF BERNAL-MARTINEZ: Stef comes from a legacy of mexican women who showed her she was worth it. Claiming southern California and the west Texas borderlands as where she is from, Stef is currently making home on the sun-drenched porches of Durham, North Carolina.Stefs current work explores themes of guilt, separation and the displacement of gente in the borderlands.
MEG STEIN: These biomorphic, psychological sculptures marry abstract, bulbous forms with playfulness and absurdity, pointing to amusing, baffling or harmful aspects of womanhood and white femininity.
