Da Camera Toronto presents Mozart's Salon: Duo Sonatas for Fortepiano and Violin. The concert features Guillaume Tardif, violin, and Andrea Botticelli, fortepiano, in a vibrant and intimate afternoon of chamber music. It takes place on November 26, 2017 at 3:00pm in Seeley Hall, Trinity College at the University of Toronto.
Featuring music from "Mozart's Salon", this concert will use a replica of an Anton Walter fortepiano from c.1790. Known as Mozart's piano, the light action and crisp sound of this instrument illuminates these works and allows for greater intimacy with the partner violin. The fortepiano used in the concert is generously donated by the University of Toronto. Explore the original sound world of Mozart's music in a concert of his works for solo keyboard and keyboard/violin.
About the performers:
Canadian violinist Guillaume Tardif pursues an active career. He travels regularly on recital tours and appears as soloist with orchestras in prominent venues in Europe, South and North America, and Asia most recently at Carnegie-Weill Hall in Paganinis 24 Caprices. He is also often heard on radio and TV networks, and his recordings have been issued on the DellArco label. Guillaume Tardif is Associate Professor of Violin and Performance and String Area Coordinator at the Department of Music, University of Alberta.
An innovative and versatile artist,Andrea Botticelli has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across Canada and abroad. Recognized for launching a Fortepiano Renaissance (The WholeNote), she has recently presented concerts on the historical fortepiano across Southern Ontario, introducing performance on the instrument and historically informed methods to new audiences.Performance projects from this past season have included appearances at York Region Chamber Music, the Scaramella series, the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and the University of Western Ontario.
