Green Bay Ice Bowl - The Stage Play
The Ice Bowl is known as a legendary, most brutally cold (16 degrees below zero) and memorable football game played in Wisconsin on December 31, 1967. This historic NFL championship game resulted in a 3rd consecutive win for Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers (21 to 17 GB vs Cowboys).
The stage play, Green Bay Ice Bowl, depicts nine years of Lombardi's influence that created football's greatest dynasty. While the sporting world watched, as if by destiny, the will, discipline, trust, teamwork and courage were summoned and responded that day. Everything Lombardi taught for nine years delivered a remarkable win under extreme conditions and pressure. It was the perfect climax to a decade of football excellence.
As conveyed in Green Bay Ice Bowl, Lombardi taught life first and football second.
Green Bay Ice Bowl portrays the width and depth of Lombardi's impact on social issues of his time in addition to influencing his players lives. Its more than a game, its poetry in motion of how one man positively affected the lives of his players, on and off the field. Four Green Bay players from the Ice Bowl, Dave Robinson, Marv Fleming, Ken Bowman and Chuck Mercein, serve as main characters who reflect on their time with Lombardi and the impact he has on them these many years later--timeless life-lessons for all to experience.
