The New Black Eagle Jazz Band at the Homegrown Coffeehouse
The Homegrown Coffeehouse celebrates the opening of our 35th Season at Needhams First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church with one of the countrys finest traditional jazz bands, THE NEW BLACK EAGLE JAZZ BAND, Saturday, September 30, at 8:00 PM.

For thirty-four years, the Homegrown Coffeehouse has brought an amazingly diverse musical lineup to Needham, from traditional folk and Americana, to traditional and contemporary jazz, blues, zydeco, bluegrass, gospel, and the hottest new singer-songwriters, presented in one of the friendliest settings in New England.

What do you say about a band that has been making music for nearly fifty years, has played all over Europe, has played alongside jazz greats Claude Hopkins, Milt Hinton, Doc Cheatham, Benny Waters, Chester Zardis, Danny Barker and Kid Thomas Valentine, and still finds time to play local concerts in intimate settings? Lets just say they are the real deal -- traditional jazz  from the early New Orleans style, Chicago jazz of the 1920's, 1930's small band jazz, the revival of the 1940's and 1950's, and original pieces written by the band. Their repertoire of over 600 numbers includes Scott Joplin rags, spirituals and gospel music, old pop tunes from the start of the 20th century to the 1960's, and of course, blues. Some say that jazz is the true American roots music  homegrown music  come hear for yourself.  THE NEW BLACK EAGLE JAZZ BAND at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, Saturday, September 30, at 8:00 P.M.

Since 1983, the Homegrown Coffeehouse has been located at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, at the corner of Great Plain and Dedham Avenue in Needham center. There is free parking and full handicapped accessibility. Admission is $22 / $18 students and seniors to benefit the Church.
