On the centennial anniversary of Ella Fitzgeralds, evidence of her undeniable and iconic influence is more visible than ever. In honor of Fitzgeralds legacy as jazzs most iconic vocalist, renowned violinist Regina Carter presents Simply Ella in support of her latest album, Ella: Accentuate the Positive. Carter has compiled a tracklisting of Fitzgerald chestnuts and has re-arranged them with a distinct freshness. Of the album, Carter states One of the many things I adore about Ella is that she just loved music and didnt box herself inThe fact that she experimented with so many different styles made me feel that, with this record, I would pay respect to her by taking the music and doing something else with it. I feel that she would smile in agreement.
