Danilo Pérez with Ben Street and Adam Cruz: Panamonk
Danilo Perez is well-known for his longtime associations with Dizzy Gillespie, and more recently, Wayne Shorter. His tasteful keyboard skills have also accompanied Michael Brecker, Jack DeJohnette, Tito Puente, and Roy Haynes. Danilo's concept for PanaMonk originally began as an exploration of pianist/composer Thelonious Monk's music. The resulting album became the acclaimed PanaMonk, hailed by DownBeat as an important milestone in the history of the jazz piano trio format. Featuring creative arrangements of Monk's iconoclastic, timeless compositions matched with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Perez brought new expression to the enduring legacy of a jazz genius. Together, with bassist Ben Street, and drummer Adam Cruz, Danilo pays tribute to a one-of-a-kind jazz composer and pianist.
