It Can't Happen Here returns by special demand produced
Kit Bix Productions in association with Actors Theater of Minnesota
Did you miss the sold-out production of It Can't Happen Here at the 2017 Minnesota Fringe Festival? Now this widely-praised Fringe favorite returns for a one-time special benefit reading at The Cabaret at Camp.
Under the direction of Bryan Bevell, this staged reading brings back Meagan Kedrowski, Charles Numrich and many other Twin Cities actors from Kit Bix's adaptation of The Federal Theater Projects 1935 production of Sinclair Lewis great anti-fascism novel.
Lewis' masterpiece, first published in 1934, imagines the rise of populist demagogue Buzz Windrip who is elected President of the United States. Called by The New York Times the classic novel that predicted Trump,"
It Can't Happen Here made the best-seller list once again in the wake of the 2016 presidential election. This time, we're donating proceeds to The Southern Poverty Law Center, one of the most important groups on the front lines of resisting hate. If you were unable to get a seat at The Minnesota Fringe Festival, or were discouraged by the long lines, here is your chance to see It Can't Happen Here at The Cabaret at Camp, Saturday, Sept 2, at 7:30.
Profits from ticket sales after overhead will be donated to The Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization on the front lines of the fight against bigotry and discrimination.
