Live & Local: Wasabi
Local trio Wasabi provides a funk rock future, as the band describes it. With songs and arrangements chock-full of glorious and energetic twists and turns, the musicians share a deep musical rapport and inspired communication. Their multi-genre sound has led to their sharing stages with the likes of Karl Densons Tiny Universe, Lee Scratch Perry, Maceo Parker and Dick Daleand those artists all form a picture of the varied influences that the soul of the band is based in. Wasabi consists of bassist Dan Robbins, drummer Alex Work and guitarist Ron Work, and their latest album, Wide Open, is filled with smooth and memorable melodicism, as well as displays of full-tilt instrumental prowess.
