Guitarist-vocalist John Pizzarellithe son of jazz guitar legend Bucky Pizzarellimakes no secret of the greatest musical influences on his mercurial style: Nat King Cole, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Frank Sinatra. His latest recording project, Sinatra & Jobim @ 50, pays tribute to two of those influences who happened to join forces in 1967 to record the now classic Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim album, featuring Jobim's graceful, flowing compositions placed side-by-side with several wonderful Great American Songbook standards. It's the perfect format for Pizzarelli, an unabashed champion of the Great American Songbook whose flair for tasteful, inventive song arrangements, regardless of musical genre, is second to none.
