O.C.A. is pleased to present an inspiring evening of Afro world beat music and dance performed by renowned Nigerian percussionist Onye Onyemaechi and his band The Messengers!
Onye is a celebrated virtuoso of African rhythm music who creates original compositions that blend tribal rhythms with contemporary music influences. His multicultural blend of hypnotic trance-dance music inspires and uplifts audiences around the world to celebrate diversity and awaken the native joy of the soul. Onye has a rich background world-wide as a performing musician, educator, inspirational speaker and author who pioneered the popular drum circles, using drum and ethnic dance to bring communities together. The band consists of powerhouse musicians Mark Escalera (drums, vocals) John Kadyk (vocals, sax and steelpan), multi-instrumentalist Cricket Seagull, Gregg Dessen on guitar, Joel Bennett, founder of Batacha Latin band on keyboards, and bass guitarist Wendall Rand.
