Concertos by J. S. Bach, featuring Anton Nel

The fifth and final concert in La Follia's all-Bach concert season features the incomparable Anton Nel performing on harpsichord. Featured works with Mr. Nel are the Triple Concerto and the Harpsichord Concerto in E major. Stephen Redfield, concertmaster, will perform the concerto in A minor. Marcus McGuff , Baroque flute, and Mr. Redfield will join Mr. Nel on the Triple Concerto. All works are accompanied by the La Follia string ensemble.

A KMFA Classical 89.5 celebrity will introduce each piece and comment on its significance.

While Anton Nel is known and beloved as one of the most distinguished pianists in the world, it is not well known that he grew up playing harpsichord. Those who attended his performance with director Keith Womer last season of two harpsichord concertos by J.S. Bach and W.F. Bach know what wonders are in store for those lucky patrons who attend this concert.

La Follia was founded in 1980, making it one of the oldest chamber ensembles of any kind in Austin. Among its numerous awards are three concerts cited as one of ten best classical music events of the year, as well as the 2016 Austin Critics Table award for overall Ensemble Performance.

Redeemer Presbyterian Church is located in the revitalized area of East Austin, not far from the Metrorail MLK station. There is free, ample and safe parking adjacent to the church. The venue offers excellent acoustics and sight lines, and is ADA compliant.
