Featuring male and female vocals, trumpet, and pedal steel guitar, Mount Peru creates moody yet powerful, emotionally charged music, described as Postmodern Americana, Cosmic Amercan Music, and often compared to artists such as the Band, the Cowboy Junkies, and the New Pornographers
Smallest Town Ensemble
Inspired by the greater Somerville community, Out East shines a light on city life, celebrating neighborhood vitality with plaintive, pastoral lyrics and dynamic instrumentation. Rich harmonies make room for brassy choruses and a bevy of mellotron organs swell under sparkly pianos.
American Echoes is a duo that fuses identical twins Laura and Nina Ganci's influences based largely in Rhythm & Blues and Folk. They create a slight tension by the exploratory twisting of musical styles, enhanced by Lauras diverse acoustic and electric guitar riffs, and their melodic harmonies that wax and wane from raspy to ethereal as they bounce across in stereo to deliver an emphatic experience. Laura and Nina have recently been joined by drummer Matt Carlson and Matt Smith on bass for a bigger, badder sound.
American Echoes ...
has a loyal following in New York, Connecticut, and their home, Boston, playing some of the most respected venues in each location. They are just about to release their second EP titled "Hungry". You can hear their first, self-titled EP on Spotify. The dynamic juxtaposition of the sisters in voice and in aura is captivating, as is their live show backed by the cleverly mixed in bottom line of both Matts'. You can't help but be enraptured, they are bound to leave an echoing impression.
Grownup Noise
Since releasing their self-titled debut in 2007, Boston's The Grownup Noise have evolved into a rousing and innovative pop-music outfit, bridging the gap between Americana music and Indie Rock. With a genuine respect for every style of music, this band and its songwriter, Paul Hansen, are song obsessed. And more than happy to garner quotes like this from The Onion A.V. Club: "The Grownup Noise's best asset, however is the songwriting, with lines of love and the changing seasons coming out as gently and colorful as the music itself".
