Underneath the Lintel
CHICAGO PREMIERE OF
UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL BY GLEN BERGER
CONTINUES CITY LITS 28TH SEASON;
MICHAEL JOSEPH MITCHELL REPRISES
AWARD-WINNING PORTRAYAL

The Chicago premiere of Glen Berger's acclaimed Underneath the Lintel: An Impressive Presentation of Lovely Evidences, starring Chicago Equity actor Michael Joseph Mitchell in the role for which he won Lansing, Michigans  2007 Pulsar Award for Best Actor, will begin previews on Thursday, March 6 and open for the press on Monday, March 10.  The show is being co-produced by Lansings BoarsHead Theatre and Chicagos CRM Productions, Inc.  Directed by City Lit Associate Director and BoarsHead Artistic Director Kristine Thatcher, it runs through April 20.
Underneath the Lintel is the story of a lonely and wryly humorous Dutch librarian who has booked City Lit Theater for an evening to present evidences as he searches the world to find the person who returned a book to his library 113 years overdue, so he can collect the fine.  As the evening unfolds, it becomes clear that his unlikely quest is also a search for the significance of his own life.  The play won the Los Angeles Ovation Award for Best Play and Back Stage Wests Garland Award for Best Play, and was one of TimeOut New Yorks Ten Best Plays during its Off-Broadway run.
