In the Round with Jim Trick, Freebo, and Alice Howe
JIM TRICK
Imagine an experience where an entire audience feels like they are connected to a conversation; whether thru his music or his words, Jim brings a real life perspective, with an engaging and entertaining presence to the room. Joyful, sincere and magnetic are just a few of the words to describe Jim Trick.

As a child, he was bullied for choosing music over sports, for having a funny last name and for struggling with obesity. Through his experiences he delivers a blend of alternative folk, thoughtful pop, and spoken word.   Influenced by Neil Finn, Bruce Cockburn, John Gorka and Charles Bukowski; Trick takes the acoustic guitar down a path of percussive, intricate, and ethereal ranges creating well thought out melodic support for carefully crafted lyrics.

Boston has welcomed Jim with open arms, as a frequent guest lecturer at The Berklee College of Music and as a solo artist.   Jim performs regularly at iconic venues such as Club Passim, Godfrey Daniels, Cafe Lena, The Me&Thee Coffeehouse, Berklees Cafe 939 and the New Moon Coffeehouse, just to name a few. He has shared the stage with Ellis Paul, Brooks Williams, Susan Werner, Martyn Joseph and Christopher Williams, Antje Duvekot, Joe Crookston, and Vance Gilbert.

One of the brightest songwriters and storytellers coming out of the north east these days is a man named Jim Trick. With the ability to draw an audience into his world, Jim is a brilliant communicator who is definitely worth the effort to go see.  Grandfather Rock from WCWP 88.1 FM Brooklyn

Everything you need, co-written with Christopher Williams, was recently released on Christophers album The City Makes the Man. Trick and Rachel Taylor co-wrote, You Might Be Surprised, a song released on the album Heartbreak is for Everyone, which was produced by Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

His most recent release, Further From the Tree, produced by Michael Pritzl of The Violet Burning, was fully funded by his loyal fan base during a four week Trick-Starter campaign.  The album features the song A road called home co-written with Nashvilles Rachel Taylor.

As a touring member of Banding People Together, Jim also travels all over the United States using music and behavioral science to help companies create collaborative strategies and improve leadership.

Jim was featured along side American Idols Alex Preston, by Berklee College of Music for a performance entitled An Evening With New Englands top songwriters.

FREEBO
FREEBO is an award-winning singer/songwriter (2008 Posi Award for Best Song in The Most Uniting Category, The '07 Los Angeles Music Awards Best Folk Artist, Winner '07 South Florida Songwriting Contest, finalist in 2009 The Great American Songwriting Contest, Finalist in 5 different categories of JPF Awards).

For 30 years, Freebo played bass on recordings and toured with some of the great artists of our time--people like Bonnie Raitt (10 years), John Mayall, CSN, Maria Muldaur, Ringo Starr, Michelle Shocked, Loudon Wainwright, Dr. John, and many others.

Yearning for more creative expression, however, he began a process of deep inner discovery and has now evolved into an award-winning singer/songwriter, having won The 2008 Posi Award for Best Song in The Most Uniting Category, The '07 Los Angeles Music Awards Best Folk Artist, and The '07 South Florida Songwriting Contest, as well as being nominated in 5 categories in the JPF Awards with two songs in the top 10 of the USA Songwriting Contest.

The Philadelphia Inquirer said of Freebo's latest CD, "Before the Separation flows with a compassionate spirit rooted in 60's ideals, packs a gently urgent relevancy, and is delivered with engaging earnestness."

Freebo's songs embrace stylistic elements from all the many musical genres he has played throughout his career, but they are uniquely his own. And in his live shows, performed on acoustic guitar, Freebo creates a unique, intimate, and inclusive atmosphere with his audience.ali

ALICE HOWE
At once timeless and original, Boston singer-songwriter Alice Howe joins a soulful, impeccably tuned voice with crafted poetry.  A lifelong songwriter, Alice's musical sensibility lies in '60s folk and '70s Southern California songwriters, with comparisons drawn to the pure, distilled sounds of Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. As a performer, Alice is sure-footed and captivating, familiar to her audience from the very first song.
During her three years in Seattle, Alice became a familiar face in the acoustic music scene, playing a variety of local gigs, from the Doe Bay Cafe on Orcas Island to the basement stage of Northwest favorite Dusty Strings Music Store. In the summer of 2016, Alice returned to her home town of Boston, and has been busy making herself known on the stages at Club Passim, the Burren Backroom, and the me&thee coffeehouse. Alice has opened for the likes of Antje Duvekot, Ellis Paul, Chris Trapper, Vance Gilbert, and Brooks Williams.

March 2017 brought the release of Alice's newest EP, "You've Been Away So Long." Tracing the New England native's years in the Pacific Northwest, "You've Been Away So Long" is a cross-country journey through the matters of the heart. Recorded in Seattle, WA with an emphasis on crystal-clear vocals, Alice's new EP features five original songs accented by the lush additions of multi-instrumentalist Jeff Fielder on electric guitar, dobro, and a sweet 1920 Gibson L-1 arch top.
