Living On the Land: Stewardship for Small Acreages

Living on the Land: Stewardship for Small Acreages prepares participants with the knowledge necessary to develop a sustainable property management plan. The class series will run for 12 weeks on Wednesdays from August 30 - November 15, 6-9pm at the 78th Street Heritage Farm in Vancouver, WA.

Six core themes are explored during the program:
- Setting the Stage and Inventorying Resources
- Your Living Soil
- All Life Depends on Water
- Love Your Grass As Much As Your Animals
- Don't Forget The Animals!
- Focusing On Stewardship

Objectives:
Participants in the Living on the Land: Stewardship for Small Acreages program will:
- Understand the difference between renewable and nonrenewable soil, water, plant, and animal resources.
- Increase skill levels in six core competency areas: land use planning and inventorying resources, soil sustainability, water sustainability, plant sustainability and management, animal sustainability and management, and stewardship.
- Build an understanding and technical expertise related to managing small acreage resources.
- Identify key Best Management Practices (BMPs) to implement on their acreages and in their community.
