Friday
The Horse-Eyed Men
The Horse-Eyed Men are two brothers - Noah and Dylan Harley - who play original, disgruntled Americana and country. Raised by musical humans in a former candy store outside of Providence R.I., one or both of them have played for years throughout Europe and the U.S. under various monikers: The Cowboy Killers, The Rosewater Ladies, and most recently with the neo-diluvian klezmer outfit Tik Tok Laboratories. Their music mixes spaghetti-western themes with cabaret, ragtime, and post-partum punk. Their latest album, Grave Country, was recorded in Copenhagen on a grant from the Danish Arts Council in the summer of 2013, and will be released throughout the summer of 2014. http://horseyedmen.bandcamp.com/

Dan Blakeslee
With a suitcase of songs, Maine folk troubadour Dan Blakeslee ventured into the subways of Boston in 1995 to practice his craft. He has been making music and art throughout New England ever since, leading him to tour the U.S. performing with The Low Anthem, David Wax Museum, Lydia Loveless, The Lumineers, Liam Finn, Brown Bird, Joe Fletcher, Death Vessel and Kimya Dawson among others. In 2015 his dream of playing Newport Folk Festival became a reality, the location where Bob Dylan went electric 50 years earlier. Blakeslee is unafraid to bare his very soul on stage, emptying a loaded cache of emotion and passion onto the stage for all to witness, explore and devour. http://danblakeslee.com/

Zach Schmidt
The best songwriters can take you to a specific place and specific time  even if youve never been. Its exactly what happens when you listen to Zach Schmidts music. Emerging on the Nashville folk music scene with his 2013 release of Horse or Truck or Train, Zach demonstrated undeniable talent as a fresh singer-songwriter.

Zachs music has a profound ability to pay homage to the longstanding tradition of folk music while breathing new-life into American sound. Between a bicycle trip across the continental US, cattle ranching in Texas, and the hard traveling life of a touring musician, Zach has had plenty to write about. His latest album, The Day We Lost The War, tells stories of hard work inspired by rust-belt towns, as well as tales of heartbreak by lovers torn apart by land or sea. In a few short years, Zach became a staple of the Nashville folk music scene. https://www.zachschmidtmusic.com/

Haley Thompson-King
"Early Angel Olsen (DigBoston), with a voice that's bits of Dolly, Emmylou and Loretta (The Boston Herald) and her live shows make you worried youre about to get pushed into an abandoned Texas mineshaft by a psychopath with a shotgun and a dresser full of love letters (Luke ONeil, Street Carnage). Hayley Thompson-King, former front woman of American psych-rock band Major Stars (Drag City), is releasing her first solo record and hitting the road in 2016. With influences which run the gamut of Waylon Jennings, Smog, Mr. Airplane Man, and 19th Century German Lieder, this year she has opened for the likes of Jon Pardi and Brothers Osbourne, Holly Golightly, Holly Miranda, and Banditos. Once you hear her roar, youll be a convert (The Boston Globe) http://www.hayleythompsonking.com/

Z-Boys
The Z-Boys are a most excellent power trio hailing from Newport, Rhode Island. With a combination of surf rock, blazing fast country, latin, and metal influences, The Z-Boys will grab your attention and give it a smooch. If you can pick your jaw up off the floor, you may find yourself dancing until the tequila emerges from all your pores. Oh, and we'll make you pancakes after. https://thezboys.bandcamp.com/

Saturday
Town Meeting
Town Meeting is a Central Massachusetts-based group featuring original songs and unusual instruments. Their work is eclectic. At one hand, their power and energy compels a crowd to its dancing feet; on the other, their lyrical imagery quietly absorbs the audience.

Town Meeting is composed of three brothers and two others.  Luke, Russ and Babe Condon are joined by Dean Adrien and Tim Cackett. They have developed an avid local following, but have also performed from Maine to Nashville, and opened for the likes of Willie Nelson, Sturgill Simpson, Third Eye Blind and Bob Dylan. https://www.townmeetingmusic.com/

These Wild Plains
It was only a year after the band played their first live show to a sold out Great Scott in Allston, MA, that Esquire Magazine featured them in their 15 Bands to Watch in 2014 feature. Theyve been busy since on the live front as go-to support in Boston for national touring bands like Deer Tick, Futurebirds and The Sadies. The boys capped off 2015 with a Boston Music Award nomination, opening for Evan Dando at his induction into the BMA Hall of Fame. Theyve earned some fantastic looks from festivals and showcases around the

country: Mile of Music 14 (Appleton, WI), SXSW 15 (Austin, TX), and most recently Stagecoach Country Music Festival 16 (Indio, CA.). In 2016, TWP have their sights set on the road in support of their forthcoming full-length Distant Ways due out July 22 but not before a string of big hometown Summer showcases at Harpoonfest, the Mass Fallen Heroes Patriotfest at the Blue Hills Bank Pavillion and at Boston Calling. Old Reasons, the debut single off of Distant Ways is now available for streaming or download via Spotify, iTunes and Amazon. http://www.thesewildplains.com/

OldJack
Since their first show way back in 2008, critics and fans knew there was something unique about OldJack. Hailed as the most underrated band in Boston, with three guitars, bass, drums, organ/keys, a female background singer, and a front man from yesterday, OldJack belts out their original material with lots of harmonies, big vocals, and guitar solos galore.

From being the underdog, wild card winning, reprieved Rock n Roll Rumble finalists to 2016 Boston Music Award Winners for Best Live Residency, OldJack has firmly planted their feet in the New England Music Scene, making music for musics sake.

While the members have changed and the band has grown in numbers (they currently bring 7-8 people to the stage), the band is constantly developing and exploring its signature Old Soul Rock n Roll sound.

OldJacks catalog includes multiple EPs since its creation, Union Glory and Gone Before You Know, a Maxi-Single and the While Label Single Series. In 2014, they put out their first full-length album since the bands debut, What Is Home To You. The collection of eight tracks pays homage to the bands influences and styles that have had critics wondering where to classify them for years.

The band has recently returned from taking time to work on new tracks and perfect their live show with the addition of multiple new members. Be on the lookout for OldJack in concert at a show near you, and a second full-length album for release in 2017. http://oldjackmusic.com

Tigerman Woah
The four members of the high-energy Boston roots band Tigerman WOAH describe themselves as "Northshore livin', brown liquor drinkin', woah-singin' and no good-rotten"

National Reserve
Sean Walsh steps out for some fresh air. He looks like the music he plays: imposing, jovial, long-haired, clad in a jean vest with a peace sign across the back, all of which combine for an effect that feels simultaneously from another time and perfectly at place where it is now. The now is a hip corner of Williamsburg on a Friday night, where for the past three hours he and his band have been assailing a bar packed full by the worlds most notorious millennials with a deep history lesson on the blues  a lesson few know theyre getting and that everyone seems love.

Im sure he was the shit in his day, but Porter Wagoner is one of the least-cool recording artists imaginable. Add to Porter the brilliant yet vanilla John Prine, The Band, an almost offensively-folky Gillian Welch, a few songs so traditional that they lack a definitive author, and songs that BB King, The Dead, and Derek Trucks Band all deemed worthy of covering, and youve got a slice of Americana that Id be proud to leave behind in the galactic time capsule. These are the ingredients of a Friday musically curated by The National Reserve. https://www.thenationalreserve.com/
