A Concert of Remembrance featuring the American Requiem
The Critically Acclaimed Camerata California Chamber Chorus and Orchestra perform James DeMars' amazing American Requiem - a cross-cultural and ecumenical Requiem dedicated to "all Americans who dedicated their lives to building this great nation."
Premiered in 1993 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of JFK's assassination, the American Requiem has been performed in the U.S and Europe for anniversaries of important events such as D-Day, 9/11 and the assassination of Martin Luther King.
On April 6, 1917, Congress declared war on Germany and the U.S. entered World War 1. The U.S. would suffer more than 300,000 casualties. In total, the war claimed the lives of more than 11,000,000 military personnel and 7,000,000 civilians.
